Before Thanos snapped…
Before Kang fractured timelines…
There was Galactus — the Devourer of Worlds.
But Galactus never acts alone. He sends forth his Heralds — cosmic beings empowered with the Power Cosmic — to search for worlds to satisfy his eternal hunger.
This is your guide to the Heralds of Galactus — their origins, powers, and impact on the MCU’s future.

The Birth of Galactus
Galactus wasn’t always the god-like force we know. He was Galan, a scientist from the universe before our own. When that universe ended, Galan merged with the Sentience of the Cosmos, emerging reborn in the Big Bang — as Galactus.
First Appearance: Fantastic Four #48 (1966)
Creators: Stan Lee & Jack Kirby
He’s not evil — he’s balance incarnate, a cosmic necessity who must devour planets to survive.
Who Are the Heralds?
Galactus empowers chosen beings with the Power Cosmic, transforming them into his Heralds — interstellar seekers of sustenance.
Power Cosmic Grants:
- Superhuman strength and speed
- Energy manipulation
- Reality warping
- Interstellar travel
- Immortality
But great power comes with a heavy price — eternal servitude.
Famous Heralds of Galactus
🌌 Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd)
The most iconic Herald. A noble man from Zenn-La, Norrin Radd offered himself to Galactus to save his planet. As the Silver Surfer, he scouted worlds for destruction — until Earth’s humanity sparked his rebellion.
Seen in: Fantastic Four #48 (1966) | Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
🔥 Nova (Frankie Raye)
A human gifted with fiery powers, Frankie Raye became Nova to explore the universe and serve Galactus. She retained a deep sense of morality — often trying to spare innocent worlds.
Transformed in Fantastic Four #244 (1982)
🪓 Terrax the Tamer
Once a tyrant named Tyros, he craved power and wielded a cosmic axe. Terrax is brutal, disobedient, and often seeks his own gain over Galactus’s command.
First appeared in Fantastic Four #211 (1979)
🧊 Morg
Perhaps the most ruthless Herald. Morg was an executioner who relished death. Even Galactus feared Morg’s bloodlust, especially after Morg slayed other Heralds.
Debuted in Silver Surfer Vol. 3 #69 (1992)
💫 Shalla-Bal (The Female Silver Surfer)
Originally a peaceful empress and Norrin Radd’s love, Shalla-Bal has taken up the Surfer’s mantle in alternate timelines. In the upcoming MCU, she is reimagined as the new Silver Surfer, bringing a regal, fierce energy.
Set to appear in Fantastic Four (2025) portrayed by Julia Garner
What Is the Power Cosmic?
The Power Cosmic is the essence of Galactus’s energy — allowing Heralds to:
- Reshape matter and energy
- Travel faster than light
- Perceive cosmic timelines
- Gain eternal life
It’s both a gift and a curse — linking its bearer forever to Galactus’s hunger.
Heralds in the MCU: What’s Coming?
With Marvel’s Fantastic Four (2025) introducing Galactus and Shalla-Bal, the Heralds are poised to reshape the MCU.
Expect:
